About the app
Tool Connections keeps one list of the outside tools an AI assistant can reach, such as a folder on your PC, web pages, or a local database. You add them, switch them on or off, and remove them in one window, without editing configuration files.
The app has a short built-in list of well-known tool servers (Model Context Protocol servers), grouped by what they do: files, the web, databases, developer work and everyday helpers. Each entry says in plain words what it lets an assistant do, what must be on your PC for it to start, and whether it reaches the internet. You fill in only the values it needs, with help for each and a picker for folders and files. Any other tool server can be added by typing its program and arguments.
Before a tool is added or switched on, you see exactly which program will start, with every argument, that it runs with your permissions, which secrets it is given and whether it reaches the internet. Nothing is added until you choose Add it.
Keys and tokens a tool needs are sealed on your device under a key kept in the Windows keychain. They are passed to the tool as environment values, never shown again in full, and forgotten when you remove the tool.
The list is saved as one file in the app's folder. It is designed so other OfflinAI apps with an assistant can read it and offer a model only the tools that are switched on.
You can also start a tool to see what it offers, and run a quick test: ask something that needs the tool, and a model on OfflinAI Server shows each call it makes and each result in words. The test needs OfflinAI Server running on your own PC and a model that can call tools. Adding and managing tools works without it.
Everything stays on your device. Nothing is sent to OfflinAI, there is no account, and no data is collected. Tools you add may reach the internet themselves, and the app tells you which ones do.
